What Sets Us Apart

The reasons our clients
stay in touch

Not a list of superlatives — a plain account of what we bring to each project and why it tends to matter.

Chapter 01

What working with us looks like

Six qualities that shape every project — not promises, but consistent practices.

Listening as a skill

Most design problems are really communication problems. We spend time understanding what you actually want before suggesting anything — including what you find difficult to put into words.

Deep local knowledge

We've worked across the Klang Valley for years. We know the climate, the light, the good local suppliers, and the contractors who deliver what they say they will.

Documentation that works

Our specification documents are written to be understood by contractors, not just designers. Fewer misunderstandings, fewer surprises, better outcomes for you.

Detail at every scale

The large gestures are obvious. It's the small things — material edges, light switch placement, the height of a shelf — that separate a well-designed room from a merely planned one.

Clear timelines, kept

We give realistic schedules and flag issues early. When something changes, you hear about it from us before it becomes a problem.

A modest scale by design

We take a limited number of projects at any one time. Not as a sales tactic, but because it's the only way to stay properly attentive to each one.

Chapter 02 — In More Detail

Professional experience that shows in the work

Our principal designer trained in architecture and has been practicing interior design in KL for over eight years. The team includes specialists in materials procurement and technical visualisation. That breadth means fewer things fall through the gaps.

  • Architectural training underpins spatial decisions
  • 8+ years of residential and workspace projects
  • In-house technical documentation and 3D visualisation

"Good design is often invisible. You notice it most when you realise you haven't been annoyed by your space."

— Nur Aisha, Principal Designer

How a project unfolds

  1. 1First conversation — we discuss your space, your life in it, and what you're hoping to change.
  2. 2Site visit & reflections — we see the space in person and send written notes with initial directions.
  3. 3Design development — spatial plans, material selections, 3D visuals, and a full specification document.
  4. 4Implementation — procurement, contractor management, site visits, and final styling.

A process that respects your time

Each stage has a defined output. You always know what's coming next and what you're being asked to decide. We don't generate unnecessary options or stretch projects out.

  • Written notes and documentation at each stage
  • Two structured revision rounds built into the design fee
  • Decisions consolidated to reduce decision fatigue

Transparent pricing, no hidden additions

Our fees are set out clearly at the start. We don't add charges mid-project without discussion. When procurement is involved, we pass supplier pricing through directly — we don't mark up materials.

  • Fixed design fees agreed before work begins
  • No material mark-up — supplier prices passed through
  • First Chapter Meeting fee credited if you proceed
First Chapter Meeting MYR 440
Full Story Design MYR 3,200
Closing Chapter Support MYR 1,650

All prices in Malaysian Ringgit. First Chapter Meeting fee credited toward Full Story Design if you proceed.

Chapter 03

How we compare

A plain comparison — not a sales argument, but a useful guide to what different approaches offer.

Consideration Typical provider Solace Dept
Initial discovery Generic brief form Personal site visit + written reflections
Contractor management
Material mark-up 10–25% common None — cost passed through
3D visualisation Often additional cost Included in Full Story Design
Portfolio use of your space Standard without asking Only with written consent
Projects handled at once Often 10+ Maximum 4 at a time

Chapter 04

Things that are genuinely different about us

Written spatial reflections

After a site visit, we send a written document describing what we observed and the possibilities we see. Not a quote — a considered response to the space.

No portfolio without consent

We do not photograph or publish client spaces without explicit written permission. Your home remains yours.

Contractor relationships, not just referrals

We've worked with our recommended contractors across multiple projects. We know their working style and stand by the referral because we've seen them perform under pressure.

Service continuity

You work with the same person from first conversation to final walkthrough. No hand-offs to junior staff mid-project.
